El ministro de Salud Pública, doctor Freddy Hidalgo Núñez, inspeccionó los hospitales Doctor Robert Reid Cabral, Maternidad Infantil San Lorenzo de Los Mina y el Doctor Francisco Moscoso Puello, donde recorrió sus instalaciones y conversó con sus directivos y personal médico.

Con los directores de los tres hospitales, el doctor Hidalgo Núñez conversó sobre la necesidad de fortalecer la red de atención primaria, como forma de eficienciar el sistema de salud y descongestionar los hospitales.

 Los ministerios de Salud Pública y Educación iniciaron este miércoles la jornada de desparasitación en la que se pretende cubrir a un millón 500 mil escolares de los niveles básico y medio.

La Jornada de Desparasitación se inició este miércoles en la escuela Matías Ramón Mella, del sector Lengua Azul del Ensanche Ozama, en el municipio Santo Domingo Este.

About 3,000 Palestinians are marching towards an Israeli checkpoint in Hebron, not far from Jewish settlements in the centre of the West Bank city.

The rally is being held to mark the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Islamist militant movement, Hamas.

There were also reports of clashes between protesters with Israeli soldiers elsewhere in the West Bank.

On Thursday, a Palestinian teenager was shot dead by an Israeli border guard at a checkpoint in Hebron.

The son-in-law of Tunisia's former president has been arrested in the Seychelles, Tunisian officials say.

Businessman Sakher El Materi was convicted in absentia of corruption by a Tunisian court in July 2011.

He had fled to Qatar after the uprising that ousted President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali last year.

Justice Minister Noureddin Bhiri said Tunisia has asked for Materi's extradition and he expected this to take place soon.

Russia's foreign ministry has insisted that the country has not changed its position on Syria and "never will".

It came a day after Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Syria's government was "progressively losing control" and that "the victory of the Syrian opposition cannot be excluded".

Earlier, the ministry clarified his comments, noting he had also said there could only be a political solution.

Meanwhile, the US has agreed to send Patriot missiles to Turkey.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has resigned after prosecutors decided to charge him with breach of trust.

Mr Lieberman has also resigned as deputy prime minister, and said he would fight to clear his name of the charges.

The case against him relates to a financial scandal dating back more than a decade.

His resignation comes five weeks before Israel's general election.

"Though I know I committed no crime... I have decided to resign my post as foreign minister and deputy prime minister," Mr Lieberman said in a statement released by his office.
